When you interview an agent, ask to see recent listings. Look at how those homes were presented. Ask who handles the photography. Ask whether professional photography is part of their normal marketing process. Ask whether they help sellers prepare the home before the shoot. Ask whether they ever recommend drone work, floor plans, video, or virtual staging when a property would benefit from it.

You are not asking those questions to challenge the agent. You are asking because your home will make its debut online, and that debut matters.

The strongest agents are usually not threatened by that conversation. In fact, serious professionals tend to welcome it. They know a home only gets one first impression, and they want that first impression to be a strong one.

That is also why professional photography should not be thought of as an extra reserved only for luxury listings in Reno or lakefront homes near Tahoe. Clean, accurate, well-composed images help every listing. A modest home in Fallon deserves good presentation just as much as a high-end property in Carson City or Gardnerville. Good photography helps buyers understand the space, builds confidence in the listing, and gives the home a better chance to compete.

At the end of the day, homeowners are not really deciding between “professional camera” and “iPhone.” They are deciding whether the agent they hire has a thoughtful, professional plan to market the home well.

That is the better question.
